Career Goals and Aspirations

An observation I have made throughout my years in college is how there are so many students that do not have a clue of what they want to do with their life and their degrees. I have always been a Baseball player as long as I can remember. With this has come more injuries then I care to admit. I didn’t know it yet, but this very fact is what shaped the mental image of my future. This began when I was 12 years old and I was prescribed my first visit to a Physical Therapy office. Once I got a taste of this environment, I was hooked. From that moment on, I decided I wanted to be Physical Therapist and that desire has not been shaken in the 9 years since making that decision. After graduating High School, I realized it was time to begin making strides towards molding this dream into a reality. I decided to attend Adelphi University, which offered a Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science, which offered all the prerequisites needed for Physical Therapy School. As college continued I have been trying to beef up my resume and make myself a more desirable applicant. I have been doing this by trying to keep my GPA high of course. In addition to volunteering and working at multiple offices to accumulate “clinical hours” required for applicants. I recently decided becoming certified in Personal Training as well as obtaining a CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) would be good ways to show my competency to perform the responsibilities needed by PT’s. As I progress, I will continue to find ways to increase my chances of being accepted into PT school and obtaining my DPT
